Charles Kreische

November 16, 2017

So far I’ve photographed six awesome singers playing “Alfred” through the years, but I noticed that there was only one “Herbert” as far as I know of my customers careers!  So I was very happy that I had the honor to also meet and portray the reigning “Herbert” of this years production of “Tanz der Vampire”  – Charles Kreische, a handsome, very young singer/actor who has just finished his training at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg.

I got to know him as a very polite, kind person, so it was easy to get along really well. Although this has been his first personal photoshoot, he did a very good job and I enjoyed that afternoon very much.

I absolutely have to watch the show when there’s finally some time left, as I am curious now to see him on stage too! If you want to know more about Charlie, please also visit his facebook-page, where you can even watch a video of his transformation to a beautiful blonde vampire.

As it was getting colder and colder outside I simply took my studio-equippment with me to the Ronacher, although I also shot many photos there with natural light only. We thankfully got permission to use this awesome building as a shooting location, because we both love those gray structured concrete walls, and even took some pictures outside at the roof-terrace.

Shooting on location is also much more interesting for me as a photographer than working in a studio – finding solutions for different light situations, exploring the city or using structured or painted walls in flats or houses is so much more fun!

And here are more of my favorite pictures of that day – enjoy! 🙂

Peter Knauder, IV

October 26, 2017

I already know Peter since 2011, so this September we took photos for the already fourth time – and this shooting should mean a lot more to me later than I expected on that day. A big thank you to Peter again for that afternoon – you’re awesome!

If you want to look at the photos we took in 2011 too, please click on this link and scroll down there.

Peter was very excited about the shoot and got tons of ideas for what to wear – and I’m always astounded by the creativity of his wardrobe choices, and they sometimes also make me smile. 🙂 So it’s always a pleasure working with him. Actually it’s more like playing and trying things, and that’s what I especially love about photography.

Peter also is very committed to fitness training, so of course we tried to make his already perfect body look best. Lots of skin and muscles this time and more of a fashion-style than in the portrait work I usually do, so I hope you enjoy the photos too!

Antje Kohler: Because it’s Christmas

November 6, 2016

bildschirmfoto-2016-11-06-um-18-49-14
I already know Antje Kohler since 2014 – back then I took her new portraits, in case you want to have a look at those photos, HERE’s the link to the old blogpost. This year Antje asked me to take photos for her first solo CD: “Because it’s Christmas”. Funny thing to shoot a cover for a Christmas-CD on one of the hottest days in July. 🙂

By the way – if you want to listen to some music on this CD, here’s the chance to do so – my favorite on this CD is “Winter Song”, haven’t heard it before and just love that song!

img_1081bAntje told me that she had – because of her job as a singer – to spend many Christmases without her husband in hotels,…, so one day she bought a little Christmas tree for those occacions, that’s the story behind – why there should be this little Christmas tree involved on the CD-cover and the booklet, that’s why we tried to find different places for Antje and her Christmas tree, even on the toilet/bathroom. 😉

Antje got permission to shoot her CD-cover at the beautiful Palais Niederösterreich – thanks again! It’s an awesome location, nevertheless we decided to shoot in one of the modern parts downstairs, because it reminded me a lot of a hotel lobby and had a rather cold feeling because of the stone floor, that’s why I thought it works perfectly well with Antje’s story, and that’s why I also liked the colder version of the chosen photo for the cover, although I decided to “switch on the lights” later in photoshop. 😉

At the beginning of the blogpost you can find the final cover, editing by Bernhard Poppe.

btsNow more about the shoot! Fortunately Antje chose a photo where I also took my only “behind the scenes”-picture of this shoot, because I knew that I would want to write a blogpost about it later. So here it is for the photographers among you. I used a big Octabox as single light source on the right handside of the camera with an elinchrom flashlight (500 Ws), tilted down very much, which explains the lighter spot/circle on the floor and a bit of a icy/mirror-effect on the blue-ish photo above, which can unfortunately not be seen on the finished CD-cover. And of course some (very few) light was coming from the window behind/above the couch, although of course the flashlight was overpowering most of it. I was practically lying on the floor with my camera, so I shot from a very low angle (not like in the bts-photo on the left handside).

Well, I hope you enjoy the slideshow (at the end of this post) and of course also Antje’s music! If you want to hear Antje live and in person – the CD-presentation will be on Dec. 5th, 2016 at the Theater am Spittelberg in Vienna, more information about this event and ordering the CD can be found on Antje’s website. Merry Christmas! 😀

Iris Nussbaum

October 23, 2016

Last week I had the pleasure getting to know actress Iris Nussbaum, a lovely young, beautiful girl who has finished studying at the Schauspielschule Krauss this year, so I enjoyed taking her portraits a lot and I hope they will help her finding great jobs on TV or in movies!

During a shoot there’s always that one special moment where everything turns out to be perfect, and I just love these exciting minutes! In this case:

Sandra Maria Miklautz

October 13, 2016

Sandra Maria Miklautz

I first saw Sandra on stage in 2001, when she was still studying at the Performing Center Austria. “Magic to do” was a great show, directed and choreographed by the phantastic Alonso Barros. Later that year Sandra played in “Crazy Love”, a very cute new (in 2001) musical at the Wiener Metropol. Since then she has worked for the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, did a lot of freelance work and is also teaching dance-classes. In case you have seen “Das Orangenmädchen” – a beautiful little musical at the Off-Stage theatre in 2008/2009, based on the book of Jostein Garder, Sandra played the title role.

And now, finally – 15 years later after getting to know her – I had the pleasure to take Sandra’s portraits! 🙂 Such a beautiful face! We tried different kind of outfits (that’s the advantage of shooting at somebody’s home instead of a studio) until we finally started taking photos of Sandra wearing her nightgown, which worked perfectly well for me, as she seems to be a very open, passionate woman. If you want to find out more about Sandra herself, please also visit her own website. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed shooting!

Musicalfest 2016

September 24, 2016

img_0603
I decided to make a short blogpost for all the people who could not be at the Raimundtheater in Vienna today, and also for those who want to look at some pictures of today’s “MUSICALFEST”. 😉

img_0393

Like in previous years there has been a built a big stage on the street right next to the Raimundtheater and the show programme was shown three times. This year’s singers were Ana Milva Gomes, Marjan Shaki, Drew Sarich and Oedo Kuipers.

img_0510
The Songs:
“Einladung zum Ball” (Tanz der Vampire) – Drew Sarich,  “Wenn ich tanzen will” (Elisabeth) – Ana and Oedo, “Gold von den Sternen” (Mozart) – Ana, “Wie wird man seinen Schatten los” (Mozart) – Oedo, “High flying adored” (Evita) – Marjan and Drew, “Don’t cry for me, Argentinia” (Evita) – Marjan.

img_0424

Of course there was also a lot to see inside the theatre – three songs of the new musical “Schikaneder” have been performed by the original cast – Premiere will be next Friday, Sept. 30th at the Raimundtheater. Tickets are available here. As I’m going to watch the full show next week, I decided I’d better wait until then. 😉

If you want to look at more photos or have some prints, please go to my website => shop – there you can find more. And here’s also the usual slide show of some of the available photos!

Richard Panzenböck

Richard and I have definitely taken a lot of photos together so far – and I enjoyed every single time, as he is one of the most relaxed and funniest people I know! 🙂

I have no idea how he manages all the different things/jobs he’s doing all the time: Acting, costume designing – and especially being a very busy, successful puppeteer with his own show “Paperman” after winning the 2nd prize in RTL’s “Die Puppenstars”.

Richard is a very good looking “vampire” (Martina Bruckner-Nöhrer: Thanks for the phantastic make-up!) and I would have loved to watch a movie like “Twilight” with him even more. 🙂

Some years ago Richard helped me with one of my projects called “Papergirl & Plasticboy” (Everything except my two models was either plastic or paper! Hair & Make-up again by Martina Bruckner-Nöhrer) during a workshop about fashion photography and an exhibition – the clothes  Birgit and Stefan are wearing are all made out of paper and plastic, designed by Richard – I think he did an awesome job here as well, so thanks again! 🙂 Here’s the last (wedding) photo of this series:

This summer we took some portraits outdoor in a rather quick shooting, here’s one of my favourites of that day, more in the slideshow below!
