Daniela Harbauer

I already photographed Dana Harbauer some years ago in my studio. As she is an awesome dancer and has a very beautiful body, we also took some dance photos besides portraits back then – in case you’d like to see them, you can either go to my own website or visit Dana’s website.

Actually I “know” Dana already since she was in school (PCA) because of her outstanding dancing, so I was looking forward to meet her little family now too! This time Dana needed new portraits after the baby break, as she is planning to go back to working as a dancer and singer again.

As it has turned out to be very helpful having ALL of the wardrobe close enough and being able to change the outfits, we took Dana’s portraits at her home. It worked out totally fine shooting her portraits in the living room, as I of course have brought my professional studio equipment with me and we had some fun. :-)

Roman Straka

February 7, 2018

In 2009 I have watched “Krawutzi Kaputzi” here in Vienna, a very funny show, similar to the musical “Avenue Q”, where the singers are puppeteers on the stage at the same time – everyone there did an awesome job!  One of the singers was Roman Straka, playing “Fips” and now, 8 years later, I had the pleasure to take portraits for him! On the other hand, Roman was also part of the cast of another “Simpl”-show (both directed by Werner Sobotka): “Und tschüß – das war der ORF” where I was shooting the official pictures for the programme.

Besides being an actor, Roman is teaching elocution at the PCA, as he always has loved to practice speaking to become a radio presenter, voice-over or dubbing artist since he was a child! If you want to see him on stage – he will be playing in Gmunden in March and April. On March 22nd will be the Premiere of the musical “Jane Eyre”, where Roman plays alongside Elisabeth Sikora, Yngve Gasoy-Romdal, Carin Filipčić and Leah Delos Santos, directed by Markus Olzinger. And I am already looking forward to watch the show, as I have also loved “Blutsbrüder” some years ago! If you want to know more about “Musical Frühling Gmunden”, please click HERE, I can absolutely recommend it.

What I love about especially photographing actors is the complete change of a character with just a different look on their face, even with only slightly different styling. Of course lighting and color are helping too, but it is always astounding to be there with a suddenly different person! That’s always the most exciting part for me – how different someone can look during the time of shooting. I’ll show you what I’m talking about. 😉 From nice and sweet to creepy can happen in minutes!

Of course this is exactly what actors need for castings, auditions and their agents – being able to show what kind of characters they are able to play. From funny guy to creepy neighbor to loving family father.

I hope Roman will get awesome jobs through the pictures we took. Here’s the slideshow with more of his photos!

Colorful styling with fruits and flowers

January 3, 2018

Kiwi + green eyeshadow

While looking through some of my older photos I remembered that I wanted to post some of these by that time, but actually this never happened… so here they are eventually. 😉

Surely you’ll agree that fresh fruits, flowers and colors can be so pretty! Although cucumber, kiwi, lemon (or other dripping fruits) sticked on your cheek is probably not a very practicable way of your everyday styling. Other fruits like cherries and flowers may work…some time. 😉

Orange-yellow eyeshadow & Flower in her hair

Usually my customers want photos with rather natural styling, so this time I decided to take some beauty shots with Teresa – a talented model I’ve worked with several times already – including colorful flowers, fruits and make-up in especially vivid colors. And as I’m not able to do this on my own, I’m very grateful make-up artist Sandra Huber was so kind to help me out with her expertise for this project. Thanks again!

She was using make-up in very vivid colors by Gianni Colores, you can even use it for painting nails, which really surprised me, and worked very well for this purpose! So in case you need very strong colors, either for photos or also for a special outfit/styling, I can really recommend to use them! But you will have to be very precise when doing your make up, as any drawing “mistake” can be seen very easily.

Of course we started with rather less vivid colours and changed it to darker tones or added a matching color. Here’s the slideshow with more photos! 🙂

Charles Kreische

November 16, 2017

So far I’ve photographed six awesome singers playing “Alfred” through the years, but I noticed that there was only one “Herbert” as far as I know of my customers careers!  So I was very happy that I had the honor to also meet and portray the reigning “Herbert” of this years production of “Tanz der Vampire”  – Charles Kreische, a handsome, very young singer/actor who has just finished his training at the Joop van den Ende Academy in Hamburg.

I got to know him as a very polite, kind person, so it was easy to get along really well. Although this has been his first personal photoshoot, he did a very good job and I enjoyed that afternoon very much.

I absolutely have to watch the show when there’s finally some time left, as I am curious now to see him on stage too! If you want to know more about Charlie, please also visit his facebook-page, where you can even watch a video of his transformation to a beautiful blonde vampire.

As it was getting colder and colder outside I simply took my studio-equippment with me to the Ronacher, although I also shot many photos there with natural light only. We thankfully got permission to use this awesome building as a shooting location, because we both love those gray structured concrete walls, and even took some pictures outside at the roof-terrace.

Shooting on location is also much more interesting for me as a photographer than working in a studio – finding solutions for different light situations, exploring the city or using structured or painted walls in flats or houses is so much more fun!

And here are more of my favorite pictures of that day – enjoy! 🙂

Peter Knauder, IV

October 26, 2017

I already know Peter since 2011, so this September we took photos for the already fourth time – and this shooting should mean a lot more to me later than I expected on that day. A big thank you to Peter again for that afternoon – you’re awesome!

If you want to look at the photos we took in 2011 too, please click on this link and scroll down there.

Peter was very excited about the shoot and got tons of ideas for what to wear – and I’m always astounded by the creativity of his wardrobe choices, and they sometimes also make me smile. 🙂 So it’s always a pleasure working with him. Actually it’s more like playing and trying things, and that’s what I especially love about photography.

Peter also is very committed to fitness training, so of course we tried to make his already perfect body look best. Lots of skin and muscles this time and more of a fashion-style than in the portrait work I usually do, so I hope you enjoy the photos too!

Antje Kohler: Because it’s Christmas

November 6, 2016

I already know Antje Kohler since 2014 – back then I took her new portraits, in case you want to have a look at those photos, HERE’s the link to the old blogpost. This year Antje asked me to take photos for her first solo CD: “Because it’s Christmas”. Funny thing to shoot a cover for a Christmas-CD on one of the hottest days in July. 🙂

By the way – if you want to listen to some music on this CD, here’s the chance to do so – my favorite on this CD is “Winter Song”, haven’t heard it before and just love that song!

img_1081bAntje told me that she had – because of her job as a singer – to spend many Christmases without her husband in hotels,…, so one day she bought a little Christmas tree for those occacions, that’s the story behind – why there should be this little Christmas tree involved on the CD-cover and the booklet, that’s why we tried to find different places for Antje and her Christmas tree, even on the toilet/bathroom. 😉

Antje got permission to shoot her CD-cover at the beautiful Palais Niederösterreich – thanks again! It’s an awesome location, nevertheless we decided to shoot in one of the modern parts downstairs, because it reminded me a lot of a hotel lobby and had a rather cold feeling because of the stone floor, that’s why I thought it works perfectly well with Antje’s story, and that’s why I also liked the colder version of the chosen photo for the cover, although I decided to “switch on the lights” later in photoshop. 😉

At the beginning of the blogpost you can find the final cover, editing by Bernhard Poppe.

btsNow more about the shoot! Fortunately Antje chose a photo where I also took my only “behind the scenes”-picture of this shoot, because I knew that I would want to write a blogpost about it later. So here it is for the photographers among you. I used a big Octabox as single light source on the right handside of the camera with an elinchrom flashlight (500 Ws), tilted down very much, which explains the lighter spot/circle on the floor and a bit of a icy/mirror-effect on the blue-ish photo above, which can unfortunately not be seen on the finished CD-cover. And of course some (very few) light was coming from the window behind/above the couch, although of course the flashlight was overpowering most of it. I was practically lying on the floor with my camera, so I shot from a very low angle (not like in the bts-photo on the left handside).

Well, I hope you enjoy the slideshow (at the end of this post) and of course also Antje’s music! If you want to hear Antje live and in person – the CD-presentation will be on Dec. 5th, 2016 at the Theater am Spittelberg in Vienna, more information about this event and ordering the CD can be found on Antje’s website. Merry Christmas! 😀

Iris Nussbaum

October 23, 2016

Last week I had the pleasure getting to know actress Iris Nussbaum, a lovely young, beautiful girl who has finished studying at the Schauspielschule Krauss this year, so I enjoyed taking her portraits a lot and I hope they will help her finding great jobs on TV or in movies!

During a shoot there’s always that one special moment where everything turns out to be perfect, and I just love these exciting minutes! In this case:

But of course there are many pictures I like a lot, so just enjoy the slideshow below. 😉
