Vicky & Hariochy

January 19, 2013

My first Austrian-Cuban Wedding! And it was fun! Those people CAN dance! 🙂

Vicky was the most relaxed bride I ever met (and photographed), she was so beautiful in that awesome dress! Here’s a photo of Vicky getting dressed, a good friend (and hairstylist) helped her.

As Vicky is a kindergarten teacher, many kids were around. I especially noticed one young man feeling cool between the bridesmaids. 🙂

Hariochy was very nervous at the beginning, but got a lot more relaxed later. Although he doesn’t like taking portraits he did a very good job. 🙂

After the official part of the wedding and shooting many many family pictures and some portraits in an awesome location we went to the hotel, where Vicky’s and Hariochy’s family and friends were waiting. When the dinner was over, the “party” started! I’ve hardly ever seen so many people dance on a wedding so well! It was amazing to watch! So here are some photos of Vicky’s and Hariochy’s day! The wedding was awesome, so hopefully their marriage will be full of love, fun and dance as well!

Wedding: Irene & Markus

November 18, 2012

Irene & Markus have chosen one of the hottest days of the year 2012 for their wedding, June 16th. But fortunately the marriage ceremony was on a ship, such a beautiful idea! And a lot fresher, with a cool breeze there. 🙂 The church wedding was in Mondsee (Upper Austria) too. Before the official part started, my assistant Dany and I went to the house of Irene’s parents to take photos of the first look and some portraits.

The garden was just beautiful, matching the bride, groom and family. 🙂 Especially Irene and her mother looked amazing!

Irene’s and Markus’ son Jonas also did a great job! 🙂

After the wedding ceremony Irene and Markus were dancing on the ship, such a cute couple!

Also the guests enjoyed the beautiful mountains and the Mondsee.

As Irene’s father is a car dealer, the bride and the groom had two separate beautiful cars, a white and a black one!

To all the photographers who are reading my blog: The church was beautiful, but I think it was the darkest church I ever photographed, no chance at all to bounce the flashlight from anywhere around me, so my only chance to get photos at all was direct flash, combined with high ISO, the lowest possible exposure time and open aperture.

Markus is a policeman, so some of his colleagues formed a guard of honour outside the church.

After the official part was over, the wedding party moved to the restaurant “Frodlhof”. Markus is a really nice guy and also kept the speech very short and funny! 🙂 I’m sure the guests had lots of fun too, everything was really relaxed, simply a beautiful day!

Legally Blonde Cast Presentation

November 15, 2012

November 15th, 2012, “Legally Blonde” Cast Presentation.

Actually, I don’t really like the music I’ve heard of this show so far, nevertheless I wanted to know  who’s playing and take some new pictures although I don’t have lots of time at the moment. Still I have to say it was quite nice! First of all because actor Christopher Ryan was there too (of course 😉 ). As I’ve photographed him last year and he’s a really nice guy, we talked for a while. Lisa Antoni, a singer I like a lot, was also there, as well as Mark Seibert, I think I saw Sonja Atlas on the balcony and Christian Peter Hauser in the distance, but I’m not sure about those two. Of course Barbara Obermeier’s agent, Doris Fuhrmann was there and also Michael Staringer from Diabelli Management.

Christian Struppeck introduced the Cast with short interviews, at least the main characters, after the two songs he also told us the names of some of the dancers, unfortunately the names are not on the papers we got.

By the way – some time ago I started to build a new Website, or rather blog, called “theaterarchiv” where you can find information about shows, and in extension also pages of actors/singers/dancers, but my focus is on the shows. I think I “already” typed in about 35 shows – not a lot, but still a beginning. The beginning of a… well…project of a century?! I already posted the link on my facebook-page a while ago, HERE’s the direct way to “Legally Blonde” if you want detailled information about the roles, but here’s a short list of the names: Barbara Obermeier, Jörg Neubauer, Ana Milva Gomes, Hendrik Schall, Linda Geider, Sanne Mieloo, Daniel Rakasz, Birgit Wanka, Sidonie Smith, Anja Haeseli, Anna Carina Buchegger, Anouk Roolker, Gabriela Ryffel

Ok, back to the cast presentation. Today’s star was definitely Linda Geider for me. I knew her name and face, but never met her or heard her sing. Her interview was quite funny, as Christian Struppeck asked Linda if she has already practiced a lot to jump rope, as this is part of her role as fitness queen, her answer was very funny or perhaps kind of desperate (?!) that she HAS to. 🙂 Ok, it was funnier to listen to the conversation, but Linda seems to be a very funny person in general, I also noticed this later when the TV-interviews started on the stage. Always joking, laughing, smiling – very likable. Another funny thing during the interview was the presentation of THE ROPE. Yes. 🙂 A very special one, which makes enough noise on the stage, and must hurt a lot if you hit your legs with it, as it is made out of smaller (plastic?)pieces. Linda presented it in a way usually stewardesses inform about safety instructions, matching Christian Struppeck’s description.  But what made her a star today? Jumping rope with high heels – respect! As I can’t even walk with shoes like these I always admire dancers who can jump and dance and run with those shoes, but the show today during Linda’s interview topped all I’ve seen so far. 🙂

After the presentation the cast showed us two songs with choreography: “Oh my god” (“Oh mein Gott”) und “So much better” (“Soviel besser”) – thanks, Anna for this additional information! Of course also the rest of the cast did a very good job, especially after only one day (?) of rehearsal. The actor on this picture (Elle’s boyfriend) is a walk in cover: Jörn Felix Alt (thanks Elisabeth for this information!) and of course Barbara Obermeier as “Elle”. Later then we could take a group photo of the cast and then TV/radio interviews started on the stage, where I also took some photos of the actors.

Here’s the slideshow – enjoy! 😉

Kirchstetten: “Figaros Hochzeit – Le nozze di figaro”

February 6, 2012

I already had the pleasure to shoot the poster/PR-photos for Klassik Festival Schloss Kirchstetten: “Die Fledermaus” 2011. In autumn last year production manager Eva Drnek asked me again to shoot the new photos for “Figaros Hochzeit” 2012. As the actors/singers are not know at that time, we had to shoot with someone else – last year the model (and MUA) was Mary Mikes, she also did the make-up this year!

Poster for 2011

This year’s model is actor Michael Smulik. It was fun to have him and Eva at my studio. Eva suggested what she wanted to have for the PR of the festival, I tried to find the best light situation and Michael did a good job with different very manly, mean, crooked or vain expressions to give Eva the results she wanted. We used a big cigar to complete the “look”, and later a mirror which was kind of tricky to shoot, but with a little help from Eva it worked well. 🙂

Thanks again to Mary, Eva, Michael, and the theater manager Stephan Gartner who unfortunately could not be there when we shot the pictures!

Have a look at the photos, and at the end of this blogpost you can find the final picture for the poster, postcards, PR-material! Enjoy! And go watch the operetta this summer!

And here’s the result:

News for 2012 and a winner!

January 1, 2012

First of all: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As I’m always grateful for people who are passing my name on to others who might need photos of themselves, I decided to give away a PORTRAIT-PHOTOSHOOT FOR FREE at the end of 2011! So I asked every customer who told him/her to let ME take his/her photos – and the name I have heard the most will get a free photoshoot! Unfortunately there were more people who brought the same amount of jobs for me this year, so I had to choose one of those. As I know that one of those already sent some of his colleagues to me in 2010, it is PAUL MARESCH who is going to get the free portrait shoot! Congratulations, and of course thanks to everyone who recommended me to his/her colleagues and friends! Please do so in 2012 too!

If you want to know who Paul is, here’s his casting video – as he doesn’t have a website by now, and here’s my favourite photo of the last shoot with him:

As this “competition” was kind of interesting for me too, I decided to give YOU the chance to win a portrait-photoshoot at the end of 2012 again – and no, not only customers can win – everyone who is recommending me has the chance to win the free photoshoot at the end of 2012, so start now! 😉

Though there will be changes in 2012. As you have perhaps already read on my facebook-site I decided to cancel the contract of my studio, this means that there will only be a few studio-shoot-dates available in 2012 – one in January and some at the middle/end of February, so if you want studio portraits, you should book very soon.  From March on only outdoor-shoots will be possible, which actually shouldn’t be a problem because many agencies for actors like natural photos taken outdoors and several actors specifically asked for “only-outdoor-photos” this year.

Examples for those shootings are the photos of Charlotte Krempl, Sebastian Smulders and also some of those pictures in the blogpost before this one – the photos of Pia  Baresch, Lutz Standop, Julia Jelinek, Franziska Hackl, Paul Maresch and Julia Kronenberg were only taken outdoors, we didn’t even go to my studio. If the light and the weather are good for photos I really like to shoot outdoors as it is much more diversified, although I also like studio photography with a controlled environment a lot too. But if you are shooting outdoors you don’t even need a special environment, the only thing you need to have is a starting point – nearly everywhere can be found a great background which is perfect for photos, of course it helps if the photographer or the model knows the surroundings, but very often it’s inspiring to just walk around and find great places while walking around, also good for getting to know your model better. And I’m always glad that actors never mind changing their clothes outdoors! That simplifies shooting a lot when you don’t have to look for a restaurant or café first where my model can change! 🙂

Some asked why I’m canceling my studio contract. The answer is simple – it won’t be profitable any longer, as I’ve decided to go (back) to university in October 2011 to study pharmaceutics. There are several reasons – most of them private – why I made this decision, and I still don’t know if I want to write those reasons down here, I just know that I can’t go on like this forever. I love photography, but sometimes I hate it as much as I love it at the same time – for what it’s doing to me. Sometimes taking photos of someone is like an addiction, I MUST DO IT, even though it might hurt a lot later – and stopping it in a long term view is simply self-protection. Yes, that sounds dramatically – and of course it’s not always like that!!! – but my best friends know how much I’ve struggled for many years whether going on with photography or quitting it. There are more personal reasons, and also the business-part of being self-employed is another thing I don’t like a lot, so in some years I will prefer to work for someone else instead of having to take care of EVERYTHING myself for sure.

But don’t worry, pharmaceutics is a very difficult field of study, so it will take some years – until then I will work as a photographer – at least kind of “part time”, which means shoot dates will depend on my university schedule and exams, and without my own studio, but then I also didn’t have a studio two years ago ;-). I will also try to get some more wedding-photography-jobs, so if you are getting married in 2012 or know someone, here’s my website for wedding photography!

I hope my plans will work out, to go to university AND be a photographer for some more years. Thanks to all my customers of 2011 (please go on recommending me!) – let’s all have a wonderful 2012 with many beautiful pictures, a lot of creativity and of course and most important much fun! 🙂 HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🙂
