Hamburg? Or Berlin? Or BOTH?

February 18, 2011

Last year I was asked if I would be interested in coming to Cologne, to take photos of some singers/dancers/actors, so I went there in April. Actually I wanted to fly, but unfortunately this stupid icelandic volcano changed my plans – I had to take the train as Airberlin cancelled both of my flights. A late night 13-hour-train-journey without sleep, arrival at lunch-time in Cologne and taking pictures at once was really exhausting, but I enjoyed getting to know some new and very nice people! Thanks again to Susanne Ortner and Sarah Schütz who managed all the appointments with their colleagues! 🙂 It was a pleasure! Thanks also to Musicaldome Köln for letting us use the theatre for taking photos – a phantastic location!

Please scroll down to see some of the pictures I took there.

As it was a lot of fun to take photos in Cologne and getting to know the people I photographed there, I decided to make another journey this year – either to Hamburg or perhaps to Berlin, or perhaps even both? Right now I’m planning my trip to Hamburg, I will book as soon as I know if there are enough people interested in new photos taken by me. So if you are living in Hamburg and need new portraits (for auditions, website) or know someone who might need pictures, please e-mail me and I’ll send you more information as soon as I know if/when I’ll be there for sure. I expect to travel to HAMBURG at the end of April, if there are some people in BERLIN who need photos too, don’t hesitate to e-mail me – if there’s enough interest, I guess I’ll come around in May. 🙂

In Vienna I have my own studio, but unfortunately I can’t take ALL of my equipment to Hamburt/Berlin, so I think we should take most of the pictures outside. Last year I took my two little speedlites (strobes usually used on-camera, but can also be used off-camera, though the light is rather harsh for full-body-length-shots then, I wouldn’t REALLY recommend that, though it works if the surrounding is not too dark), so if you need headshots, it’s ok for sure to take the photos somewhere inside (if you have a cool flat or perhaps at a theatre again?), otherwise I would suggest to take photos somewhere outside, I’m sure there will be lots of cool places in Hamburg! Or Berlin too. 😉 If someone definitely needs studio-shots we would have to rent a studio which will increase the costs, but if that’s not a problem, just tell me and I’ll try to find a studio to rent, wherever I’ll be! 🙂

Ronacher 20.11.2010

November 22, 2010

On Saturday Nov. 20th I was asked to take photos at the “Blutspendetag” at the Ronacher! It was so cool, especially the kids were really funny! See all the photos here: http://www.isabell-schatz.com/blutistgut/index.htm

Marianne and Martin were so kind to let many visitors take photos with them – thanks again! Some of the actors were here before the autograph session downstairs started, please scroll down to see the photos I took of them!

Exciting thing to work for the VBW, hopefully there will be another chance like this, that’s exactly what I would love to do – working for theatres and taking portraits of actors, dancers, singers and those great shows I always love to watch! 🙂

I even got my own signboard – thanks to Martin for photographing it, I  completely forgot that! 🙂

Thanks also to Sandra, my assistant for that day who took some photos of me and Marianne&Martin! Cool. 🙂 I also wanted to have a picture like this! 🙂

Thanks for the great cooperation and thanks to everybody who came around! I hope lots of blood was donated for “Rotes Kreuz”!

Exhibition, new portraits and next Saturday

November 18, 2010

On Saturday, Nov. 13th 2010, five of my photos were part of an exhibition, organized by a group of people (like me) who joined a seminar about fashion photography and the one who taught – Felix Rachor. About thirteen photographers (amateur or professional) showed their work – a project. The title I invented for my own project was “Papergirl & Plasticboy”, and if you scroll down you can see a slideshow with my photos of the exhibition, some extra photos and some “behind the scenes”-pictures of the photoshoot and the exhibition, thanks to Ursula Schmitz (she was also my assistant at the photoshoot) and Günther Schermann! My parents came to help me too, and a photographer-friend from Graz, Joel! It was so cool to see them and some other friends there – thanks for dropping by! And of course thanks to everybody who was part of my project and helped – Birgit Mrozek, Stefan Reil, Martina Bruckner-Nöhrer, Richard Panzenböck, Ursula Schmitz at the shooting and Joel for his printing advice. 😉

And as Joel was here already, we decided to take some photos! 🙂 It was so much fun to work together with another photographer, especially if he’s good at modelling too. 😉 Scroll down to see some the photos we took! Also have a look at his cool website: http://portfolio.joelkernasenko.com/ I like the category “home” most – wonderful pictures!

If you are looking for something  to do on this Saturday – do something good and come to the Ronacher (12:00-16:00) and donate your blood! It will be like an “open house”, there will be make-up-artists who can “transform” you into a Vampire, you can find out how the fake-blood – which is used for “Tanz der Vampire”- tastes, AND the coolest part of it all – you can come to the 2nd floor (Rondeau) and get your portrait taken by me! 🙂 A make-up-artist will be there to put some fake-blood on your neck or next to your mouth, and I’ll take your photo! These pictures will be shown at my website: http://www.isabell-schatz.com/blutistgut.html (and you can order them there) and the Facebook-page of “Tanz der Vampire”: http://www.facebook.com/VampireWien

COME!!!! 🙂

Exhibition and Cooperation with “Vereinigte Bühnen Wien”

November 6, 2010

This year I attended a seminar for fashion photography. Every participant was requested to make up  a topic for his/her own project, mine was “Papergirl & Plasticboy”. Stefan Reil told me a lot about fashion photography, as he has already done some model jobs for magazines before. He was my “plasticboy”, “papergirl” was Birgit Mrozek, a beautiful girl I already have photographed before too. Richard Panzenböck, a very funny guy and costume designer (designing the costumes for “camprock” right now) was here to design the outfits, only paper and plastic were allowed. I’ve spent days for the different sets (“paperworld” and “plasticworld”), made of paper and plastic too. Martina Bruckner-Nöhrer did the cool make-up and hairstyling – thanks to everybody for your help! 🙂

Here’s a digital flyer with all the information about the exhibition and a photo of our group-project – COME!

And here’s also one of my five pictures which will be shown at the exhibition, together with the projects of the other participants.

And now the second cool thing!!!

As you might know I love vampire-stuff. 🙂 That’s why I’ve taken some vampire-photos some time ago and put them on my website. Now that’s what happened: The “Vereinigte Bühnen Wien” called me! How cool is that!? They asked me if I’d be interested in a cooperation, so I can take photos at the “Blutspende-Aktion” at the Ronacher on Nov. 20th! There will be a “photobooth” and my photos will be published on my website and the VBW’s Facebook-Fanpage “Tanz der Vampire (Wien)”. I’m so glad I can do this, I’m sure it will be lots of fun! 🙂 Come and get your photo taken there!

On Monday I did some portfolio-vampire-shots again, male model was Richard Panzenböck (yes, the costume-designer of my papergirl-plasticboy-project) and Birgit Kronberger (you might have seen her on my website at the fashion/commercial-category already) was the other model. Martina Bruckner-Nöhrer was so nice again to do the make-up and hairstyling, and of course it looked way better than the testshots without her. 😉

Here are some of the new photos, and a “making-of-photo” with Martina!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! Special introductory offer!

October 19, 2010

Yes, I love everything that has to do with Vampires, people who know me, know that. 🙂 And as halloween is coming, I decided to do some more of that stuff, it’s always great for photos! After talking to a friend of mine who suggested offering shootings with special topics I thought it’s a wonderful idea (thanks again to Andy :-), so now there’s a new service available – “model for a day”. Please read more about it on my website (http://www.isabell-schatz.com). There you can also find some photos of a testshoot for this offer, I bought many props, sewed a curtain, and took some photos with Richard Panzenböck and Birgit Kronberger (thanks again for being my models!) We had looots of fun, especially because the glue of Richard’s (vampire-)teeth didn’t really stick (have to get a good one!!) and they fell out all the time. 🙂 Anyway we got some cool shots, have a look at them below.

As the “model for a day”-shooting will be a really cool thing, but also expensive and take lots of time, I thought it would be nice to have a special introductory-offer for a series of shootings with different topics (many more to come!!). For those who want to book the “model-for-a-day”-shoot, don’t hesitate to suggest other topics!

So here’s the deal: For Oct. 31st you can book a “Vampire”-Shooting for 90,-! Take your friend, a cool dress or other cool clothes you want to wear on the photos and come (but please send me an e-mail first to fix the time!! isabell.schatz@chello.at). There will be a make-up-artist here (beginner) who can do your make-up and each of you gets one A4-print of the photo you both have chosen. If you want to take photos on your own (without a friend), good as well. 😉
Enough fake blood and a vampire cape will be available. 🙂

Well, here are some photos of the testshoot, that’s how YOUR PHOTOS could look like!

Shooting “Die Fledermaus”

October 12, 2010

I love theater!!! 🙂

That’s why I started with photography, and I’m always happy if I can take photos for theaters, actors, singers or dancers. I was assigned to shoot the promotion photos for a classic festival for Summer 2011: “Klassik-Festival Schloss Kirchstetten”, next year they will be playing “Die Fledermaus”, so last week intendant Stephan Gartner, producer Eva Drnek and their model Mary Mikes were at my studio.

Eva had many props with her and Mary tried on different dresses, the first intention was shooting a scene like coming home from a ball, and we tried different versions, I like the photos of Mary lying on the floor with a white, gorgeous dress most because it’s simple but stylish and still looks like a woman who has dressed up for a ball, but here are also some other photos (please scroll down) we shot just because it looked good. 🙂 But there are also many others I haven’t edited yet. I’m curious which one will be the final photo for the poster! And hopefully there will be more jobs like this coming up!

Please also have a look at the festival’s website (although it still will take some time until the poster is online):

Bandshooting “freiraum5”

October 5, 2010

Some time ago I had the pleasure to take photos for the website of  the band “freiraum5”. I already went to the location some days ago to find a cool place for shooting there. The suggestion of frontman Markus Neugebauer was really good – perfect for a band shoot, not just the common brick walls. 😉

The five guys – Markus, Roberto, Tom, Philipp and Stefan – were really patient during the shoot and it was much fun to take their photos!  Thanks to Elisabeth too. Have a look at the photos below and also visit the band’s website: http://www.freiraum5.net
